Bringing Your Tools
I was talking to a friend over the weekend about the unemployment rates for people with disabilities. We both agreed on the following: You must bring ” something to the table”.
We have heard about jobs being created and how good these jobs are, but; where are they? and how do you prepare for them?
I have discussed in the past the need to sharpen up your skills; do some research and legwork. Never before has that been more true.
I will re-emphasize go to the library, contact your local Chamber of Commerce and contact organizations in computer software, technology companies, human resources groups, biomedical groups, skilled trades alliances – construction, plumbing electrical etc… find out about new careers and the skills required and recommended schools.
Be apart of this new growth and don’t be left behind. By all means seek information from your local workforce development group.
Just like Clarence said to me: Bringing something to the table, let’s you eat. The salaries are unbelievable!
